Leapfrog Group awards top fall 2025 rating for hospital’s safety performance

FOLSOM – Dignity Health Mercy Hospital of Folsom has been recognized as one of the nation’s safest hospitals, earning an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for fall 2025. The national nonprofit watchdog evaluates general hospitals across the country on more than 30 evidence-based measures tied to errors, accidents, injuries, infections, and the systems designed to prevent them.

“Patient safety is at the heart of everything we do at Mercy Hospital of Folsom,” said Lisa Hausmann, president and CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom. “This ‘A’ grade reflects the intentional, team-based work happening across our hospital every day to ensure our community receives the safest, highest-quality care.”

Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said the top rating reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to patient safety. “Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Mercy Hospital of Folsom made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” Binder said. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries, which collectively contribute to more than 500 patient deaths per day in the United States. The program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital grades are issued twice a year, in the spring and fall.
