FOLSOM — Firefighters from neighboring agencies were dispatched to the 200 block of Thorndike Way at approximately 9:42 p.m. Monday after reports of a possible structure fire at a single-story home. Crews from the Folsom Fire Department and El Dorado Hills Fire Department arrived to find flames confined to the chimney area after the homeowners had ignited a fire in the fireplace.

Upon arrival, firefighters noted that all residents of the home had safely self-evacuated and were waiting outside as crews began their assessment.

Firefighters quickly confirmed that the fire had not spread into the living area or attic space. Their rapid work prevented any extension into the home and ensured damage was limited to the chimney structure.

Four engines and two truck companies were initially dispatched due to the nature of the call. Once firefighters determined the fire was isolated to the chimney, the response was reduced. Folsom’s Truck 34 provided overhead roof access so crews could check for hot spots and ensure no additional fire had entered the structure.

As of 10:25 p.m., one engine and a battalion chief remained on scene continuing to investigate the incident and secure the home. No injuries were reported.
