SACRAMENTO COUNTY – The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to come forward with any additional information following the arrest of a Sacramento man tied to suspicious activity at several East Sacramento County schools and the discovery of a large weapons cache inside his home.

Deputies say 29-year-old Dalmin Muran became the focus of an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Threat Management Unit after repeatedly being seen on and around school campuses, most recently at Rosemont High School. In one incident, Muran allegedly drove onto school grounds at night while dressed in military-style clothing and wearing night-vision optics.

Security staff told him to leave, and he complied, though he reportedly insisted he should have access to the grounds because they were “public.” Investigators later confirmed he had falsely claimed prior military service during previous contacts and had expressed interest in joining law enforcement.

Last week, members of the Threat Management Unit, working with the Special Enforcement Detail, Critical Incident Negotiations Team, and other tactical units, executed a search warrant at Muran’s residence. Deputies reported recovering multiple law-enforcement-style patches and tactical gear, including items bearing the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office name.

They also found numerous firearms that had been illegally modified, hundreds of firearm parts used to build or alter weapons, and an unserialized short-barreled rifle hidden in the attic. Smoke grenades, flash bangs, and pepper-spray-deployable smoke devices were also seized, adding to concerns about public safety.

Muran was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple felony charges but was released on bond just hours later.

Detectives are concerned there may be additional unreported encounters in which Muran may have presented himself as law enforcement or attempted to enforce laws. Anyone with information or who may have had suspicious contact with him is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at (916) 874-5115.
