Rodriguez now at 50.54% for District 4 Supervisor seat; Hoover at 51.9% for Assembly District 7
The latest round of ballot counts from Tuesday’s election has been released. Both Sacramento County Elections and the State of California released the newest batch of results Friday afternoon, which included a number of mail-in ballots from Tuesday’s election. The latest numbers show two of Folsom’s residing candidates continuing to lead their respective races.
After Friday’s release, candidate Rosario Rodriguez now holds 50% of the vote in the Sacramento County District 4 Supervisor race. Folsom resident and Republican incumbent Josh Hoover continue to maintain the highest vote count in the race for the 7th Assembly District seat, with just over 51% of the votes.
Rodriguez, the former mayor of Folsom and current city council member, is running for the seat being vacated by retiring longtime County Supervisor Sue Frost, who endorsed Rodriguez simultaneously with her retirement announcement last year. Sacramento County’s 4th District includes the communities of Citrus Heights, Folsom, Orangevale, Antelope, North Highlands, Rio Linda, Elverta, and Rancho Murieta.
Updated counts now show Rodriguez ahead of Citrus Heights Mayor Bret Daniels and fellow Folsom resident Braden Murphy. In this race, the top two vote earners will face off in November unless a candidate takes 50% of the vote “plus one” in the primary.
Rodriguez moved to the 50.54% mark, with an updated vote count of 17,828. Daniels now sits at 27.84% with 9,823 votes being reported. Murphy has garnered 7,631 votes so far, putting him at the 21.63% mark in the race. As of Friday afternoon, Sacramento County elections overall were reporting voter turnout at 20.78%, with 180,496 ballots counted so far in a county that has 868,750 registered voters to date.
Hoover, who was elected in November 2022 to represent California’s 7th Assembly District, includes the cities of Citrus Heights, Folsom, and Rancho Cordova, and the unincorporated communities of Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Foothill Farms, Gold River, Mather, McClellan Park, North Highlands, Orangevale, and Rosemont.
Hoover’s latest numbers have him maintaining 51.9% of the vote with 31,657 votes to his name. Hoover’s closest contender is Porsche Middleton, who leads the battle as the Democratic candidate on the November ballot. Middleton now holds 30.1% of the vote with 18,378 votes as of Friday afternoon. Folsom resident, former Vice Mayor, and current city council member YK Chalamcherla maintains 17.9% of the vote, or 10,942 votes to his name as of Friday.
Additional results from California Elections are forthcoming. The election results are expected to be official and certified on April 12 after all ballots have been counted.
