Department honors longtime leader with final radio call Friday afternoon
FOLSOM — The end of another era at the Folsom Police Department was marked Friday afternoon as Sgt. Tim Galovich officially signed off for the final time, closing a 25-year career in law enforcement that included 22 years serving the Folsom community.
Surrounded by family, friends and fellow officers, Galovich was honored with the department’s traditional gauntlet ceremony before delivering his final radio call, a moment that symbolized both the close of his career and the respect he earned throughout it. The Friday afternoon gathering reflected the deep connections he built within the department and the lasting impression of his service.
Over more than two decades in Folsom, Galovich’s career touched nearly every facet of police work. He began in Patrol before serving as a Motor Officer and later as a Detective assigned to the Special Investigations Unit. His service also included time with the department’s Mounted team and participation on the Peer Support Team, roles that highlighted both his versatility and his commitment to supporting fellow officers.
Galovich later moved into leadership, serving as both Patrol Sergeant and Traffic Sergeant, positions in which he oversaw daily operations while mentoring younger officers. Colleagues frequently pointed to his steady professionalism, calm leadership and unwavering focus on public safety as hallmarks of his career.

His 25 years in law enforcement spanned significant changes in policing, technology and community expectations, yet Galovich remained a consistent and respected presence. Within the department, his legacy is defined not only by the assignments he held, but by the example he set through his work ethic and dedication to service.
In a statement recognizing his retirement, the department said, “We thank Sgt. Galovich for his years of service and dedication, and we wish him nothing but the best in a well-earned and happy retirement.”
Galovich’s final sign-off Friday afternoon marked more than the conclusion of a career. It represented a lifetime of service to the Folsom community and to the officers who served alongside him.
