Vietnamese restaurant shifts focus to future projects as Broadstone storefront becomes vacant
FOLSOM — A Vietnamese restaurant that opened earlier this year in Folsom’s Broadstone Marketplace is closing its doors just months after debuting, leaving another high-profile vacancy along the East Bidwell Street retail corridor.
Saigon Alley Kitchen + Bar confirmed it officially closed its Folsom location this weekend, according to an announcement received by Folsom Times made by owner Mymy Nguyen. The restaurant was located at 2770 E. Bidwell St., Suite 600, in the Broadstone Marketplace.
The Folsom location marked the third restaurant for the Saigon Alley group and had been operating for less than a year after opening in March. In the release, Nguyen said the decision was part of a broader shift in business priorities.
“After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to close Saigon Alley in Folsom as we sharpen our focus on the next chapter of our work,” the statement reads. “This decision reflects an intentional shift in priorities as we streamline our portfolio and dedicate our energy to several new projects launching over the coming year.”
Nguyen, leads a growing local restaurant group that includes Saigon Alley and Sit Lo Saigon. According to the announcement, the company plans to continue expanding in 2026, with new restaurant openings already in development. Folsom however, didn’t have enough dining support.
“We are deeply grateful to the Folsom community for the support, memories and enthusiasm shared with us, and we are excited to carry what we’ve learned into what comes next,” said Nguyen.
The announcement follows recent activity surrounding the Broadstone location. Earlier this month, the Sacramento Business Journal reported that an upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Folsom had been listed for sale by Grand Realty Group. The listing, priced at $350,000, featured interior photos that matched the decor of Saigon Alley’s Folsom restaurant.
Saigon Alley’s arrival in Folsom earlier this year was positioned as an expansion of the brand’s modern Vietnamese dining concept. The restaurant took over a prominent space in Broadstone Marketplace and emphasized elevated Vietnamese cuisine, craft cocktails, and a contemporary dining atmosphere. Coverage of the grand opening highlighted the restaurant’s intention to bring a distinct culinary experience to the growing east Folsom corridor.
With the closure, Broadstone Marketplace now faces another vacancy as property owners look to refill the space in a competitive dining and retail environment. The shopping center has seen ongoing turnover in recent years as restaurants and retailers adjust to shifting consumer demand and rising operational costs.
No timeline has been announced for what may replace Saigon Alley at the Broadstone location. Five Guys in the same center recently shuttered, however that vacancy is being filled by Midtown Breakfast Club and is currently under construction preparing to open in the coming weeks.
