Five veteran members recognized for decades of dedication, leadership, and family sacrifice
Five veteran members of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department were honored this week for reaching a milestone that few in the fire service achieve, marking 25 years of dedicated service to the community.
Recognized for their quarter-century commitment were Deputy Chief Dave Brady, Captain Mark Ali, Captain Kasey Owens, Captain Ben Cowles, and Firefighter Carmen Stiern. Together, the five represent more than 125 years of combined experience serving El Dorado Hills through emergency response, leadership roles, training, and mentorship within the department.
Department officials noted that each of the honorees has contributed in multiple capacities over the past two decades, helping shape the department into what it is today.
Their careers span years of change and growth within the community, with their experience playing a critical role in ensuring public safety and guiding the next generation of firefighters.
The recognition also placed emphasis on the families who stand behind firefighters throughout long careers marked by unpredictable schedules, missed holidays, and the inherent dangers of the profession.
“We would also like to take this moment to celebrate their families for 25 years of sacrifice. It doesn’t go unnoticed that the families of our firefighters also endure much in this profession and for that we thank you,” the department shared.
Reaching 25 years of service is a significant milestone in fire service, reflecting not only longevity but sustained commitment to protecting the community. For the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, the recognition served as both a celebration of individual achievement and an acknowledgment of the dedication required to serve the public over decades.
