Resident alerted by pet dog of blaze that evacuated neighboring homes
Folsom firefighters with the assistance of Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to a structure fire Saturday night that forced the temporary evacuations of neighboring homes.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., multiple units from the Folsom Fire Department were dispatched to the 400 block of Ebi Way in Folsom.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a garage heavily involved in flames. The residents of the home had safely evacuated the structure without injury after being alerted by a their pet dog. Firefighters performed an additional search of the home to insure no other occupants remained inside.
During the initial fire attack, firefighters evacuated residents of neighboring homes on both sides of the affected structure due to concerns about fire exposure, according to firefighters on the scene. By 10:34 p.m., firefighters reported they had contained the active fire to the garage area with no further extension into the home or neighboring homes.
“An aggressive fire attack held the fire in the garage and prevented it from spreading to living spaces,” said Chad Wilson, city of Folsom Assistant Fire Chief.
A total of four Folsom engines were dispatched to the scene, along with Folsom Truck 35 and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s Truck 65. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
