The pesky winds that swept through the area let up just in time for visitors to enjoy a perfect day beneath sunny skies at the 11th annual Electricity Fair Saturday morning and early afternoon at the Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park in Historic Folsom
Hosted by SMUD in partnership with California State Parks, the event welcomed hundreds of attendees of all ages for a day packed with interactive learning, activities, and entertainment focused on renewable energy and SMUD’s vision for a clean energy future.
The fair featured hands-on science projects, solar art activities, tours of the historic powerhouse, museum exhibits, and an electric vehicle showcase. Families had the opportunity to dive into hands-on science activities that sparked curiosity and our interactive exhibits took visitors on an exciting journey through the history and future of power, showing how electricity gets to our homes. Visitors also enjoyed music by a DJ, snacks, refreshments from food trucks on hand.
Free transportation provided by Regional Transit made it easy for many community members to attend the fair, which continued until 3 p.m. in the afternoon. Admission was free and also offered many giveaways of energy savings products.
