Equipment is now on site and dirt has been moving as the early stages of construction have begun on the highly anticipated AC Hotel by Marriott at Folsom’s Palladio shopping center, marking the largest expansion at the popular venue since it first opened in 2010.
The new hotel, is a project by Midland, Texas-based Insignia Hospitality Group Inc., that will bring the five story facility to reality. As previously reported last year by Folsom times, the hotel is expected feature some 130 guest rooms, including eight executive suites and other amenities to the shopping and entertainment center.
Located on a 1.45-acre site near the intersection of Broadstone Parkway and Palladio Parkway, the AC Hotel will occupy what is currently a parking area. Plans for the five-story hotel call for a design that complements the Palladio’s European-inspired architecture, seamlessly blending in with the shopping center’s existing retail and dining destinations.
First announced in 2022, the project is one of Insignia Hospitality Group’s first developments of its type in the local region. The company, which primarily manages Marriott properties across Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana, has reportedly designed the Folsom AC Hotel to include a range of upscale amenities.
The first floor will reportedly house a lobby/lounge area, breakfast bar, fitness center, and will feature various meeting spaces. In addition to its guest rooms, the hotel is expected to offer executive suites on the fifth floor.
With a total of 85,473 square feet, the hotel’s plans indicate a layout that is an L-shaped main structure with an outdoor patio area. It will replace 218 existing parking spaces in the Palladio’s northwest corner, the project’s design appears to includes 29 new parking spaces to the area to accommodate guests and visitors.
The Folsom AC Hotel will be the second of its kind in the Sacramento area, with another location in Downtown Sacramento. Known for their minimalist, modern design, AC Hotels cater to travelers seeking a European-style hotel experience. The brand, which originated in Spain in 1999, was acquired by Marriott and has since expanded internationally.
The addition of the AC Hotel by Marriott is part of a long-term vision for the Palladio, which originally included a hotel component to complement its diverse mix of restaurants and retail offerings. With construction now in motion, residents and visitors can expect to see significant progress in the months ahead as the hotel takes shape. An exact dates of completion has not been announced since the construction got underway.
