Folsom High School’s Marching Band continued its tradition of excellence this past weekend, earning the prestigious “Sweeps” award at the Tournament of Champions held at Rodriguez High School. The honor, signifies the highest overall score among all 18 schools in competition.

Adding to the accolades, Folsom High School Band Director Gaw Vang Williams received the coveted Directors Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership at the event.

The Tournament of Champions, held Saturday in Fairfield , drew 18 bands from across the region, making the competition very strong and the overall score even more meaningful.

The band achieved the highest overall score of 92.16, outpacing its competition by a significant margin. This included standout performances in music, general effect, and visual categories, where they led their division. Their scores in Music Performance (334/350) and General Effect (234/250) were the highest in the competition, earning them first-place rankings in both categories. Their Visual Performance score of 181.5/200 further underscored their dominance.

Adding to the accolades, Folsom’s Band Director Gaw Vang Williams was honored with the Directors Award, recognizing her leadership in steering the program to unparalleled success. The band’s percussion and colorguard units also received top marks, 

The win at Rodriguez High School adds another chapter to the storied legacy of the Folsom High School Marching Band, which continues to set the standard for musical and visual performance.

The band’s success is made possible in part by the tireless efforts of the Folsom High School Music Boosters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Dedicated to promoting excellence through music education, the boosters provide vital support to the program through fundraising and volunteerism, ensuring students have the opportunity to participate in these prestigious events.

The Music Boosters congratulated the students across social media, along with everyone that contributes to their success. “Congratulations to our Band, the Marching Band Staff, and The Volunteers/Parents for your support this incredible season,” they said.
