Firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department and El Dorado Hills swiftly contained a garage fire on the 4500 block of Butterfly Ridge Drive Friday afternoon, limiting damage and ensuring the occupants could remain in their home.

The fire was reported just before 2:40 p.m., prompting a response from 11 units. Upon arrival, Engine 34 from the Folsom Fire Department’s new Folsom Ranch Area Station 34 initiated an aggressive fire attack through the garage, while additional crews conducted a primary search and secured utilities.

According to the Folsom Fire Deparment, firefighters were on scene within four minutes and achieved a quick knockdown within minutes, confining the fire to one wall in the garage. No injuries were reported, and it is suspected that a cigarette may have caused the blaze, according to the department’s report.

“This is a great example of how important the investment of putting station 34 in service was for Folsom,” Folsom Fire A-Shift Battalion Chief Nick Lawlor told Folsom Times. “This was a four minute response time today. Before that station opened it would have easily been a 15 minute response time and we would have had a much larger situation.”

Units responding from El Dorado Hills were released from the incident shortly after crews arrived. Folsom. Folsom firefighters remained on the scene for just over an hour to ensure the area was safe. According to the Folsom Fire Department, the homeowners were able to stay in the residence following the incident.
