An Orangevale family has been displaced after a fast moving structure fire damaged their home and much of their belongings late Sunday night.
At 10:44 p.m. Sunday, multiple units from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department responded to the 8500 block of Noel Drive in Orangevale after a 911 call reported the structure fire. Nearby residents also reported hearing a loud explosion just prior to the incident.
Upon arrival, firefighters faced an active working fire. Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the garage of the home and spreading into the living area and into the attic, according to a report by metro fire.
Crews quickly laid hose lines and made their initial attack, starting with the garage area where the fire was most active and knocked down the active fire. They then proceeded to ventilate the home and prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring homes and vegetation.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze that kept firefighters on scene until approximately 1:30 a.m. A total of 12 units responded to the incident
The residents of the home were alerted by working smoke alarms and were able to safely evacuate before firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to Metro Fire.
