A Rancho Cordova man has been arrested on homicide charges following the an investigation into the suspected Fentanyl overdose death of a female in Folsom last week.
It was last Wednesday that Folsom Police Patrol Officers responded to the report of a suspected Fentanyl overdose in the 1000 block of Folsom Ranch Drive. Despite life saving efforts, including the administration of Naloxone (Narcan), Folsom Fire personnel responded and pronounced the 24-year-old female deceased, according to a report released by the Folsom Police Department.
Detectives with the Folsom Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) responded to take over the investigation. Detectives worked around the clock to identify the individual responsible for providing fatal dose of Fentanyl to the decedent. Through their investigation, SIU Detectives identified Ronald Ehman, 44 of Rancho Cordova. With the assistance of FPD patrol officers, The Elk Grove Police Department K9 unit, Sacramento Police Department and Placer County Air Operations Units, as well as FPD UAS (drone), Detectives later took Ehman into custody at the Folsom Historic Light Rail Station.
Ehman was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked for homicide and the possession of a controlled substance for sale. The charges were filed by the Sacramento county District Attorney’s Office and Ehman is set to be arraigned this afternoon.
“We want to remind everyone how big of a problem fentanyl has become and how dangerous it is. If you or a loved one suffer from drug addiction please ask for help,” reads a statement from the Folsom Police Department. “We are here for everyone in need and there are lots of resources out there to help.”
Ehman was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon in a Sacramento courthouse.This is the first Fentanyl homicide arrest in Sacramento County.
