The Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band is preparing to set sail on a sea-inspired musical journey with its upcoming concert, “Water Works,” on Sunday, April 6. The performance begins at 3 p.m. at Korean Plaza in Rancho Cordova, and admission is free.

Under the direction of Tom Seaton, the band will perform an engaging selection of music celebrating the sea, sailing, and the adventurous spirit of sailors. Audience members can look forward to an entertaining afternoon filled with maritime melodies, vibrant symphonic arrangements, and traditional seafaring tunes.

“Water Works” is designed to be enjoyable for all ages, making it an ideal event for families, seasoned music enthusiasts, or anyone simply captivated by nautical themes. The Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band performs approximately ten free concerts annually, staying committed to the American community band tradition. The group relies on community support, and any monetary donations received at this event will directly benefit the Dennis Gray Memorial Scholarship Fund. Additionally, the band will collect non-perishable food items to support the Rancho Cordova Food Locker.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band is comprised of around 60 volunteer musicians. Their diverse repertoire includes traditional concert band literature, popular hits, and orchestral transcriptions. Members range from former military band musicians to those rediscovering their passion for music in a community setting.

Sponsored by the City of Rancho Cordova, the band is affiliated with the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association (SVSBA) and the Association of Concert Bands (ACB). Thanks to funding from the Measure H Community Enhancement Fund, the band has expanded its capabilities by acquiring new instruments and equipment, enhancing the quality of their performances.
