Each year, the Association awards Performing Arts Scholarships to university and college-bound high school seniors seeking a career path in the performing arts. This includes vocal or instrumental performance, theatre and/or film acting, production in theatre, film, or music, the business of theatre, dance, or becoming an educator in any of these areas.

Applications are now open through Friday, March 7, 2025! High school students across the region are eligible. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring of 2025 and applicable beginning in the fall semester of 2025.

The Association is a nonprofit organization that has supported our community through the gift of music for the last 30 years. It provides professional and student musicians to seniors in residential communities, and instruments for students and schools in need. It also presents one of the region’s most reasonably priced concert series hosted at the Harris Center for the Arts in Folsom.

“High school seniors across our region have aspirations to enter the performing arts,” said Association President Ila Dubin. “The Folsom Concert Association helps turn their dreams into reality through the Performing Arts Scholarship Program. We want to invest in the future of talented young artists.”

To date, the Association has awarded approximately $81,000 in college scholarships to 28 high school seniors pursuing careers in the performing arts! The program is made possible thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors, concertgoers, and supporters.

In 2024, three seniors from El Dorado High School, Whitney High School, and Oak Ridge High School received scholarships totaling $8,000. They are pursuing film, theatre/acting, and journalism careers.

One of the scholarship recipients told the Association about the impact they want to make through a performing arts career. “What sets my dreams apart is that I want my art to have a deeper purpose. I want to create something that not only changes the lives of an audience member, but makes them feel more understood and welcomed in society.”
