Folsom Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery last month at the Palladio 16 movie theater in Folsom, where a woman was reportedly robbed at gunpoint.

Elijah Sanchez, 20, of Sacramento, was arrested on Jan. 14, 2025, by detectives in El Dorado County. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of robbery and vehicle theft. Sanchez is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

As reported in a previous Folsom Times article, the robbery occurred just after 9 p.m. on Dec. 29 Officers responded to the Palladio 16 Cinema after a caller reported that a friend had texted to say they had been robbed at gunpoint.

Officers worked closely with Palladio security and theater employees to ensure the safety of all patrons. The one screening in progress was quickly evacuated, and it was confirmed that the suspect had already fled the scene.

Investigators determined that the suspect approached the victim, claimed he had a gun, and demanded her car keys. After taking the keys, the suspect ran out of the theater, stole the victim’s vehicle from the parking lot, and fled the area.

The stolen vehicle was later tracked and found unoccupied on the 4000 block of Mascot Avenue in Sacramento. A thorough investigation by detectives identified Sanchez as the suspect. The arrest was the culmination of an extensive investigation by the Folsom Police Department that has been underway since the incident occurred.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities encourage anyone with additional information that may have witnessed the events on Dec. 29 to contact the Folsom Police Department.
