Over 50 pieces of stolen mail were recovered and a women was arrested law enforcement officers reportedly discovered over 50 pieces of mail stolen during a traffic stop Thursday morning in Granite Bay. 

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Thursday morning, a deputy made a traffic stop in Granite Bay. During the stop, deputies observed numerous W-2s and other financially identifying information not addressed to the suspect in the vehicle.

According to the report, 50 unopened pieces of mail were recovered, as well as 6 opened pieces. The mail was addressed to residents with both Placer and Sacramento County addresses. 

According the Placer Country Sheriff’s Department report, Jacklyn Patrick, 43, of Rocklin wasarrested on suspicion of felony identity theft charges as well as an outstanding felony warrant.

The Folsom Police Department recently warned the community to take extra precautions when it comes to mail delivery and personal identifying information with the arrival of tax season.

Recent crime logs have reported in increase in mail theft. In the Folsom community alone, multiple reports of mail box break-ins have been reported in the area of Woodview Court and Timson Drive

The following tips were provided by Folsom PD to protecting personal identifying information:

  • Pick up your mail daily.
  • If you plan to be out of town, ask a neighbor to pick up your mail or the Post Office to hold your mail.
  • Sign up for Informed Delivery with the United States Postal Service to receive daily emails that include what is scheduled to be delivered to you, which can assist with knowing what is missing in the event your mail is stolen.

“It’s tax season and almost every day, there are pieces of mail with personal identifying information on it delivered to your mailbox,” reads a community warning issued by the Folsom Police Department.
