EL DORADO HILLS—A family of four was displaced Monday evening after a fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to a home in the Serrano community of El Dorado Hills.
According to the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, the fire broke out at approximately 5:40 p.m at a Serrano residence on the 5300 block of Da Vinci Drive,
Investigators determined the fire started from a barbecue on a rear balcony and quickly extended into the home’s attic.
Fire crews from El Dorado Hills Fire Department, Cal Fire, Cameron Park Fire and the Rescue Fire Protection District responded to the incident It took about 20 minutes for firefighters to bring the attic fire under control.
No injuries were reported in the fire or the suppression of it. According to the department, the family was displaced due to the extent of the damage to the roof of the home and its exterior exposure.
