A familiar restaurant space at one of Folsom’s most active shopping centers is preparing for a new identity, as a well-established Bay Area breakfast and brunch chain plans to open its first Sacramento-area location at Broadstone Marketplace.
The Breakfast Club at Midtown is coming soon to 2750 East Bidwell St., Suite 100, filling the vacancy left by Five Guys, which permanently closed its Folsom restaurant last month.
The Breakfast Club at Midtown has been in operation for more than 30 years and has built a loyal following across the Bay Area, with locations in cities including San Jose, Walnut Creek and Morgan Hill. According to the company’s website, the restaurant was founded on the idea that good food creates connection, positioning itself as a neighborhood gathering place rather than simply a dining stop. The Folsom restaurant will be the chain’s first location in the Sacramento region.
The concept centers on classic breakfast and brunch offerings made with fresh ingredients and a comfort-driven approach. Menu staples at other locations include signature pancakes, omelets, bacon and hearty breakfast plates designed to appeal to both casual weekday diners and weekend brunch crowds. The restaurant emphasizes a welcoming atmosphere aimed at encouraging guests to linger, gather and return regularly.
The company is also actively pursuing franchise expansion and specifically highlights suburban communities with strong brunch demand as ideal locations, a description that mirrors Folsom’s growing population and family-oriented dining market. More information about the restaurant can be found on its website.
The transition follows the recent closure of Five Guys at the same address. The franchised burger restaurant submitted a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice to state employment officials announcing a permanent closure and the layoff of 16 employees. The notice indicated a Nov. 25 closure date, though the restaurant appeared to shut down earlier, with signage removed and operations ceased in advance of that date.

Five Guys first opened its Folsom location in 2017 as part of the company’s national expansion. Based in Alexandria, Virginia, Five Guys Enterprises LLC began franchising in 2002 after starting as a single burger restaurant in the Washington, D.C., area in 1986. The brand is known for its streamlined menu of burgers, fries, hot dogs, sandwiches and milkshakes and operates just under 2,000 locations worldwide, according to its website. Company representatives did not respond to a request for comment regarding the Folsom closure.
While a specific opening date for The Breakfast Club at Midtown has not yet been announced, visible preparations and signage at the site indicate the project is moving ahead, bringing a new breakfast and brunch option to the Broadstone Marketplace lineup and marking a notable shift in the tenant mix at the popular shopping center.
