EL DORADO HILLS — A longtime local cafe is about to pour its last cup of joe. Bella Bru Café has announced it will permanently close its El Dorado Hills location at the end of the month, marking the end of a long chapter for the neighborhood café.
In a message shared with customers this week, the owners said the restaurant’s final day of service will be Jan. 31, describing the decision as a difficult one made after exhausting every option to remain open.
“With heavy hearts, we announce that we have made the difficult decision to close Bella Bru Café El Dorado Hills,” the statement read. “This decision was not made lightly.”
The café, located at 3941 Park Drive, cited the challenges of operating a small business in California as a major factor in the closure. Despite sustained efforts to continue operations, the owners said they reached a point where closing the location was the right decision.
“Running a small business in California comes with many challenges, and we truly did everything we could to keep our doors open,” the statement said. “Despite our best efforts, we have reached a point where closing the restaurant is the right decision for us.”
Since opening under its current ownership four years ago, Bella Bru Café became a gathering place for both everyday routines and special occasions in the El Dorado Hills community. In their announcement, the owners reflected on the role the café played beyond food and coffee service.
“Bella Bru Café became more than just a café — it has been a place for celebrations, everyday meals, milestones, and community connections,” the statement said. The owners noted that moments ranging from birthday parties to quiet morning coffees helped define the café’s presence in the community, adding that the bonds formed and memories created would always be cherished.
The announcement prompted a response from the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce, which acknowledged the closure and its broader impact on the area’s business community.
“Another unfortunate day in our community, a long-standing and beloved business has chosen to close its doors,” the chamber said in a statement. “We extend our best wishes to them at their other two locations.”
The owners of Bella Bru Café also expressed gratitude to both customers and staff, crediting employees for their dedication and care over the years.
“We are deeply grateful to our loyal customers and to our dedicated staff, whose hard work, passion, and care made this possible,” the statement said. “Serving you has been an honor.”
Customers are encouraged to visit the El Dorado Hills location before its final day so staff can thank them in person. While the Park Drive café is closing, Bella Bru confirmed its other locations will remain open and welcomed guests to continue visiting its Carmichael and Natomas cafés.
“We hope you’ll join us before our final day of service so we can thank you in person and say goodbye one last time,” the statement said.
