EL DORADO HILLS—For the second time in as many days, fire crews from CAL FIRE and El Dorado Hills Fire Department made swift work of a vegetation fire in the southern reaches of the community, this time near the Blackstone residential area.

Dubbed the Black Fire, Wednesday’s fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Valley View Parkway and Blackstone Parkway, just off Latrobe Road. A coordinated and efficient response by firefighting crews brought the blaze under control quickly, halting forward progress within 45 minutes and containing it at 2.6 acres, according to CAL FIRE’s Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU).

By 3:15 p.m., incident command confirmed forward progress had been stopped, and crews soon transitioned into mop-up mode. As of Wednesday evening, the fire had been fully contained, with no structures threatened and no injuries reported.

The response included personnel from CAL FIRE, El Dorado Hills Fire Department, and assistance from the El Dorado County Fire Protection District. Air and ground resources worked in tandem to ensure the fire remained confined to the open vegetation zone and did not encroach upon nearby homes in the Blackstone area.

This incident follows closely on the heels of Tuesday’s vegetation fire near Bass Lake, which was also quickly contained at 3 acres, just east of the El Dorado Hills Boulevard exit. That fire prompted a visible smoke column and brought a swift multi-agency response, as reported in Folsom Times’ coverage of the Bass Lake fire.

As fire season continues across the region, local officials are reminding residents to remain vigilant, report any signs of smoke or fire immediately, and ensure defensible space is maintained around their properties.
