The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Monday that a body was recovered from the upper waters of Folsom Lake Saturday that remains unidentified.
According to reports, the body was discovered floating by visitors that were recreating on the lake Saturday afternoon. The discovery occurred near the Rattlesnake Bar recreational area of the lake.
The boaters who spotted the body called 911 and waited for law enforcement form Placer and El Dorado County to arrive, as well as California State Parks to arrive for recovery efforts. The body was recovered from the El Dorado County side of the waters. At this time authorities have very little details as the discovery is under investigation.
The victim is reportedly a female and is currently classified as “Jane Doe,” according to the EDSO, as the coroner’s office works to officially identify the victim which could take several weeks, according to authorities who noted that the remains appeared to have been in the water for some time.
