Ribbon cutting commences new center providing primary care, cancer treatment and infusion services.

With scissors in hand and the community looking on, Dignity Health Mercy Medical Group officially celebrated the grand opening of its new Folsom Iron Point Center on Friday, marking a major step forward in meeting the growing healthcare needs of the Folsom region.

Leadership from Dignity Health and Mercy Medical Group were joined by Choose Folsom, city officials, healthcare teams, and members of the public for a morning ribbon-cutting ceremony that showcased the expansive new facility and the many partnerships that helped bring it to life.

“This grand opening isn’t just about a new building or a new service—it’s about a dedication to this community,” said Rob Marchuk, physician enterprise president for Dignity Health. “This 16,000 square foot center is a place where talent meets need, and where our providers bring compassionate, high-quality care to the people of Folsom.”

The new clinic, located at 1050 Iron Point Road with access off Black Diamond Road, offers a full suite of services including family practice, pediatrics, oncology, hematology, internal medicine, infusion therapy and advanced imaging such as X-ray, MRI and CT scans. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Designed with the patient experience in mind, the facility provides a welcoming environment and eliminates the need for residents to travel far for critical healthcare services. It also houses Dignity Health’s first infusion center in Folsom—bringing vital chemotherapy and infusion therapy closer to home for many patients. Services are closely integrated within the clinic, allowing for seamless referrals and coordinated care among primary care providers, specialists, and imaging teams to ensure a smooth and supportive experience for patients at every stage of treatment.

“We’re proud to offer a comprehensive range of services in one convenient location,” said Dr. Kim Cafarella. “From pediatric care to cancer treatment, we’ve built a team and a space that prioritizes long-term relationships, continuity of care, and reducing the burden of travel on our patients.”

The grand opening also served as an opportunity to recognize the many contributors behind the project. Teams across operations, IT, human resources, finance, real estate, marketing, communications, and project management were acknowledged for their dedication in bringing the center from vision to reality.

Dr. Tina Johnson, president of Dignity Health’s Sacramento market, reflected on the years-long journey leading up to the center’s opening. “This began as a vision, and it took the hard work of many people and a strong partnership with the city of Folsom and Choose Folsom to get us here,” she said. “As this city grows, Dignity Health will continue to grow with it.”

Mayor Sarah Aquino praised Dignity Health’s longstanding commitment to the city. “Access to high-quality healthcare is just as important to Folsom residents as great schools and recreation,” she said. “While all four major health systems are building in Folsom, Dignity Health has been with us from the beginning. We’re grateful for their continued investment.”

Council Member Barbara Leary, who represents the district where the clinic is located and brings decades of healthcare experience as a retired nurse practitioner, presented a ceremonial gift on behalf of the city. “It’s wonderful to see such an expanding variety of care right here in Folsom,” she said. “It makes a difference for our residents.”

The event concluded with guided tours of the new center, allowing guests to see firsthand the modern design, integrated imaging suite, pediatric care area, infusion rooms, and patient-focused layout that reflects Dignity Health’s mission to deliver care with compassion.

Marchuk also offered a glimpse into the future, noting that Dignity Health plans to break ground soon on a new advanced ambulatory care center in Folsom Ranch, continuing the organization’s long-term investment in the community.
