Powerhouse Ministries calls residents to support families and seniors during the holiday season

FOLSOM – Folsom’s Powerhouse Ministries is once again stepping forward to make the holiday season brighter for hundreds of local families who are facing hardship, reminding the community that hope is something both given and received. As December approaches, the longstanding Folsom organization is inviting residents to come alongside their mission and help lift the spirits of those who need it most.

This year’s Christmas Around Town celebration will take place Saturday, December 13 at Lakeside Church in Folsom, where more than 400 volunteers and 65 partner organizations will unite for one purpose: delivering dignity, joy, and connection to families navigating difficult circumstances. The annual event has become one of Folsom’s most meaningful holiday traditions, blending generosity with a compassionate atmosphere that helps restore a sense of warmth during a season that can be especially challenging for many.

More than 900 individuals and families are expected to attend the celebration, which will offer uplifting holiday music, a festive meal, and an opportunity to come together as a community. One of the signature elements of the event is the Christmas Mall, a beautifully organized shopping-style experience where parents and guardians can select gifts for their loved ones at no cost.

Funded entirely through the generosity of local donors, the Mall allows families to celebrate Christmas with pride and joy, creating a dignified and memorable moment for those receiving support. Registration is required to participate in the celebration at Lakeside Church in Folsom.

In addition to the gathering, Powerhouse volunteers will deliver 750 gift bags to homebound, low-income seniors across the region. These bags, filled with household essentials and Christmas gifts, provide comfort and connection to residents who are often unable to leave their homes or attend holiday events. Volunteers say these deliveries often spark some of the most emotional responses of the season, as seniors are reminded that their community has not forgotten them.

The success of Christmas Around Town relies heavily on the kindness of Folsom-area residents. Gift collection bins have been placed throughout the community from November 3 through December 8, offering an easy and accessible way for the public to give. From toys and clothing to household goods and holiday staples, each donation helps ensure families and seniors will experience the warmth and generosity of the season.
