FOLSOM — One of Folsom’s most festive traditions is back, and the call has gone out for residents and businesses to light up the season. Folsom Times and the City of Folsom have once again teamed up to present the 2025 Folsom Holiday Lights Contest, inviting the community to decorate, celebrate, and spread holiday cheer across every corner of the city.
The free contest encourages households, businesses, and entire neighborhoods to showcase their creativity and holiday spirit with displays ranging from classic to whimsical. Participants can enter for a chance to earn bragging rights along with special prizes provided by Folsom Times and several local business partners.
This year’s contest features five categories designed to highlight a wide range of decorating styles. The Holly Jolly Residence category recognizes the best overall residential display, while the Clark Griswold category honors extraordinary use of holiday lights. Residents looking to build character-driven arrangements or themed designs may find their fit in the Hollywood Christmas category, which celebrates displays inspired by movies, books, and fictional icons.
Businesses can join the competition through the Merry and Bright Business category for storefront and window décor, while neighbors who combine efforts can compete in the Illuminate the Block category for multi-house displays that transform entire streets.
“Folsom Times is thrilled to be invited once again to partner with the City of Folsom for this year’s Holiday Lights Contest,” said Bill Sullivan, co-founder/owner of Folsom Times. “Each year this event grows more exciting, more creative, and more community-driven, and we’re proud to help make 2025 even bigger and more rewarding than last year. Registration is open now and free for all Folsom residents and business owners. The deadline to sign up is Friday, December 12, and only registered participants will be judged. Residents can review contest categories, find entry instructions, and register by clickingHERE.
Folsom Times and its advertising partners will provide a variety of prizes for winners in each category, including dinners, family activities, retail gift cards, and other items from local businesses. Winners will also receive colorful yard signs, be featured on FolsomTimes.com, recognized at an upcoming Folsom City Council meeting, and highlighted in the City of Folsom’s e-newsletter and across its official social media platforms. Decorative winner plaques from Folsom Times will also be presented during the council recognition.
