The City of Folsom has earned top honors for its financial planning, receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget document.
The recognition is the highest achievement in government budgeting, underscoring Folsom’s commitment to transparency and accountability in financial management.
The award reflects the city’s success in meeting nationally recognized standards for effective budgeting. To qualify, a government entity must present its budget as a clear and comprehensive policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool. A panel of independent reviewers determined that Folsom’s budget met or exceeded the rigorous criteria established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and GFOA’s best practices.
Founded in 1906, GFOA represents more than 20,000 public finance professionals across the United States and Canada, promoting excellence in public financial management.
