The City of Folsom has announced the appointment of Allison Konwinski, SE, as its new Chief Building Official. With more than 15 years of engineering experience and an extensive understanding of building codes, permitting, and safety standards, Konwinski will lead the city’s Building Division.

In this role, Konwinski will oversee building inspections, permitting operations, and plan reviews to ensure projects meet the highest safety and compliance standards, according to an announcement from City of Folsom Communications Director Christine Brainerd. Konwinski will provide guidance on building code requirements to property owners, designers, and contractors. She will oversee the Folsom Accelerated Small Tenant Improvement Review program and will lead an initiative to streamline and accelerate the permitting process. 

“We are fortunate to have someone of Allison’s exceptional caliber as our Chief Building Official,” said Community Development Director Pam Johns. “Her leadership, technical expertise, strong work ethic, and commitment to exceptional service make her the perfect choice for this important role.”

Konwinski has served the City of Folsom for more than five years, most recently as the Deputy Building Official. She previously served as a senior engineer at the City of Sacramento and provided engineering services at private structural firms in Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Diego. Konwinski’s experience spans every stage of the building process, including schematic design, construction documentation, detailed plan reviews, construction administration, and project approvals.

Konwinski holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
