Veteran Sacramento law enforcement leader to be sworn in December 8
FOLSOM — The City of Folsom has announced the appointment of Adam Green as its next Police Chief, bringing more than 24 years of law enforcement experience, executive leadership, and public safety expertise to the role.
Chief Green joins the City of Folsom following a distinguished career with the Sacramento Police Department, where he most recently served as Deputy Chief. He joined the department in December 2001 as a police officer and steadily advanced through each rank. As Deputy Chief, Chief Green’s key responsibilities included overseeing the Office of Operations, the Office of Specialized Services, and the Office of Investigations. He also guided multimillion-dollar budgets, oversaw organizational restructuring efforts, strengthened regional and federal partnerships, and expanded community engagement and domestic violence response initiatives.
At the City of Folsom, Chief Green will lead a team of 125 employees and 50 volunteers who protect and serve the community. Chief Green will oversee all Police Department services and programs, and he will lead the organization in maintaining a culture of community-oriented policing, community engagement, employee wellness, and accountability.
“Chief Green’s extensive background and leadership style make him an outstanding fit for the Folsom Police Department,” said City Manager Bryan Whitemyer. “He brings exceptional operational experience, strong strategic judgment, and a clear commitment to professional and accountable policing. Chief Green has a proven ability to lead with transparency. His steady, professional approach will help build trust with the community and strengthen Folsom’s ranking as one of the safest cities in the country.”
“I am honored to serve as Folsom’s next Police Chief alongside the men and women of the Folsom Police Department, and to honor their tradition of service, community, and Folsom pride. There can be no greater calling than to protect the safety of our public,” said Chief Green. “Since moving to the Sacramento region, the Folsom community has been an important part of my life, and I am humbled by this opportunity.”
Chief Green grew up on California’s North Coast and moved to the Sacramento region to attend California State University, Sacramento, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He also holds a master’s degree in emergency services administration from California State University, Long Beach.
In his new role, Chief Green will draw on his extensive executive training from the Major City Chiefs Police Executive Leadership Institute, California Police Chiefs Association Executive Leadership Institute at Claremont Graduate University, the POST Executive Development Course, and the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute. He has also completed multiple additional POST leadership and management programs.
A public swearing-in ceremony will be held on Monday, December 8, at 3 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center, located at 52 Natoma Street, Folsom.
