As wildfire season approaches, the City of Folsom is inviting the community to take proactive steps in preparing for emergencies with a Wildfire Prevention Open House on Tuesday, June 3. The event will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Clubhouse at Lew Howard Park, located at 7150 Baldwin Dam Road.
This free, family-friendly event aims to equip residents with practical tools and information to protect their homes and loved ones in the event of a wildfire. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from local and regional emergency agencies, receive personalized preparedness guidance, and even meet the city’s firefighting goats, who are a key part of Folsom’s weed abatement efforts.
Through a series of interactive booths, residents will learn how to create wildfire action plans and evacuation routes, sign up for emergency alert systems, and properly pack “Go Bags” for a quick departure during an emergency. Other topics will include fire prevention techniques, home hardening strategies, and maintaining defensible space.
The open house will also highlight vital programs such as tree safety and fire-safe landscaping, hazardous and green waste disposal, family emergency preparedness, water conservation, and resources from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The event is designed to engage residents of all ages, making emergency preparedness both informative and approachable.
