Local aquatic center leader brings decades of experience to California Water Safety Coalition

A longtime member of the City of Folsom Parks & Recreation Department has been appointed to a key statewide role focused on preventing water-related injuries and deaths across California.

Chad Gunter has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the California Water Safety Coalition, a statewide organization dedicated to reducing drownings and other water-related incidents through advocacy, education and policy development. In his new role, Gunter will contribute his professional expertise in aquatic safety, recreation services and public education to support the coalition’s mission.

Gunter manages the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center, the city’s year-round aquatic facility that provides recreational swimming, swim lessons, fitness programs and competitive aquatics for residents of all ages. His career spans more than 25 years in public recreation, with a strong focus on aquatic programming and water safety initiatives aimed at preventing drownings and promoting safe water practices.

Throughout his tenure in public service, Gunter has worked to expand access to high-quality recreation opportunities while keeping public safety and community education at the forefront. His appointment places Folsom representation at the state level on issues that directly impact families, swimmers and recreational water users across California.
