The City of Folsom is preparing a Subsequent Environmental Impact Report for the 2035 General Plan and Folsom Plan Area Specific Plan and is seeking the community’s input. The main objective is to consider amendments that would increase residential densities in three specific areas of the city.

According to the City of Folsom, the subsequent report will evaluate the potential environmental impacts of proposed amendments to the 2035 General Plan previously analyzed in an Environmental Impact Report. It provides updated information to ensure informed decision-making and compliance with environmental regulations.

As a first step in this process, the city has drafted a Notice of Preparation (NOP) and is planning to host a virtual public scoping meeting on August 17. Members of the community are being encouraged to attend the virtual meeting and provide any feedback they desire during the 30-day review period that concludes on Aug, 23.

About the project:

In response to State housing requirements, the City of Folsom began a two-part effort to increase housing capacity for multi-family and affordable development in certain areas. By increasing capacity in targeted areas, the city will maintain an adequate supply of land for multi-family housing without rezoning land in established residential neighborhoods.

The purpose of the NOP is to notify agencies, organizations, and individuals that the City of Folsom will be the Lead Agency preparing a Draft Environmental Impact Report for the City of Folsom 2035 General Plan Amendments for Increased Residential Densities (proposed project). The City of Folsom welcomes public input during the NOP review period. The purpose of the scoping process is to solicit public comment regarding the scope and content of the information to be addressed in the EIR. Read the NOP here. The Project Planning Area consists of the East Bidwell Mixed-use Corridor, the Glenn and Iron Point transit priority areas, and the Folsom Plan Area.
