As small business owners in the Folsom Historic District, my wife, Renee, and I have always been deeply invested in the success and well-being of our community. A big part of our success has been due to the investments we made and continue to make in Folsom. The passage of Measure G offers a crucial opportunity for us to continue to thrive while ensuring Folsom remains a vibrant, welcoming place for all.
This modest tax adjustment, one cent for every dollar spent, will provide vital funding for improved police and fire services—services that directly protect our businesses and the safety of our customers. Reliable public safety not only safeguards our investments but also reassures our patrons that they can feel secure while shopping, dining, and enjoying all that Folsom has to offer.
Moreover, this measure will help maintain the city’s amenities, including parks, streetscapes, and gathering places that draw both locals and visitors alike. These spaces are key to what makes Folsom such a special place to run a business. When people have a beautiful, well-maintained environment to spend time with friends and family, they are more likely to frequent local shops and restaurants, supporting small businesses like ours.
We believe in investing in Folsom, and this small sales tax increase will yield great returns—strengthening the community, enhancing our quality of life, and ensuring that Folsom remains a distinctive destination to gather, shop, and share time together. Supporting this measure is not just about benefiting business, but is also about contributing to a stronger, more connected Folsom. Folsom must take care of Folsom.
