As a retired teacher, high school principal, and former Assistant Superintendent for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, I understand the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for our children and families. I am writing today in strong support of Measure G, which proposes a modest one percent sales tax increase to ensure that the City of Folsom has adequate funding for essential services, including public safety, parks, trails, and road and sidewalk improvements.
Having lived and raised a family in this wonderful community, I know firsthand how vital these resources are for maintaining our quality of life. Ensuring that our police and fire departments are adequately funded is critical to keeping Folsom a safe place to live, work, and raise children. A well-resourced public safety system provides peace of mind for all residents and is the backbone of a thriving community.
Equally important are the parks and trails that offer our children space to learn, grow, and develop life skills as well as the arts and cultural amenities that make Folsom so distinctive. These assets are essential not only for their physical well-being but for fostering a balanced perspective as they mature into strong adults who will one day give back to our community.
Measure G is a practical step toward securing the future of Folsom. It will help ensure that the city continues to be a place where families can thrive, and where our children have the opportunity to prosper in a safe, vibrant community.
Join me and my husband, Marc, also an educator, in voting Yes on Measure G.
