At its Tuesday meeting the Folsom City Council approved a resolution on Tuesday authorizing a Subdivision Improvement Agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento. The agreement paves the way for the development of affordable housing at the site formerly listed as 300 Persifer Street.

This project has been years in the making, beginning in September 2020 when the city declared the land surplus. In December 2021, the site was subdivided into five residential lots. Habitat for Humanity plans to build at least one for-sale affordable housing unit on each of the five lots, with an additional secondary dwelling unit on each lot. These plans align with both local zoning requirements and state housing laws.

The council’s action enables the city manager to finalize the agreement, which includes necessary civil improvements such as streetlights, underground utilities, and service connections. The project also adheres to Folsom’s Historic District Design and Development Guidelines, ensuring that the new homes will blend with the character of the surrounding area.

With civil improvement plans reviewed and approved, construction is expected to move forward once the agreement is executed. This initiative reflects Folsom’s commitment to expanding affordable housing options, particularly for low- and moderate-income families. Situated in the heart of Folsom, the project will not only provide new homeownership opportunities but also contribute to the city’s broader housing goals.
