Nashville recording artist follows weekly line dancing, leads weekend line up at Historic Folsom venue
The Folsom area’s own Nashville Music Row artist Cynthia Renee is set to ignite the stage at the Folsom Powerhouse this Thursday, Dec. 19, as the latest act to perform for Country Thursdays in Historic Folsom.
Renee, a singer-songwriter with Twelve-Seventeen/SSM Nashville Records, is known for an extensive catalog of modern and popular country songs, along with her originals like “Working on a Hangover” and “Good on Me,” both of which have received radio play and video syndication nationwide. Her newest original, “Heart for a Hero,” is set to release to radio and video just after the holidays. The song is a rocking tribute to first responders, veterans, active military, and frontline workers. The soon-to-be-released video was filmed in both Folsom and Nashville and has already gained popularity locally ahead of its official release.
Written by the daughter of a former deputy sheriff who served in the military, and as an ambassador for the locally based Hearts4Heroes USA organization, the song is very special to Renee. It has already touched many who have heard it performed live and on streaming platforms. Renee hopes some of the area’s first responders and veterans will come out for Thursday’s show.
Renee and her band have performed at KNCI Radio’s Country in the Park alongside artists such as Lady A and Maddie & Tae. This past summer, they opened for multi-platinum-selling artist Uncle Kracker in Santa Barbara, as well as Broken Bow Records artist Chase Bryant in Reno. Locally, Renee has performed at Folsom’s Harris Center for the Arts and at numerous casinos and entertainment venues, including Red Hawk Casino, Black Oak Casino, Gold Country Casino, Sky River, and Hard Rock.
Renee will be joined Thursday by her four-piece band, which includes longtime local guitarist and songwriter Jeff Brzozowski on acoustic guitar, Aaron Geoffroy on electric guitar, Jeff Vita on bass, and drummer Marshall Goins, who splits his time between Elk Grove and Nashville. The ensemble is sure to get the crowd on their feet as they perform many originals along with a mix of modern country hits.
In addition to Renee’s performance on Thursday, Powerhouse will host free line dancing and lessons by instructor Grace on the newly installed LED dance floor starting at 7:30 p.m. and continuing until showtime. Renee and her band will take the stage at 9 p.m. and perform until 12:30 a.m.
Additional performances in the region include appearances at the El Dorado County Fair, San Joaquin County Fair, and Gold Country Fair. Earlier this year, Renee was one of 10 singer-songwriters selected nationally to perform in the “New York Encounter” showcase at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Later that evening, at 10 p.m., The Midnight Players will bring their Old School R&B, funk, and Latin vibes to Powerhouse. Established in 1977, this Sacramento-based band is known for electrifying performances featuring timeless grooves from the 1960s through the 2000s. Saturday, Dec. 21: Unlicensed Therapy, Red Corvettes
Saturday offers two performances. Starting at 3 p.m., the Saturday Afternoon Dance Party features Unlicensed Therapy. This dynamic cover band will rock the house with classics from the 1970s to today’s hits. Known for their energetic and interactive performances, Unlicensed Therapy delivers a prescription for fun and dancing. Ages 21+. Later that evening, at 10 p.m., don’t miss The Red Corvettes – Prince Tribute Show. Calling all Prince fans!
