ORANGEVALE — A diverse lineup of heavy music takes over The Boardwalk on Feb. 6, bringing together four bands whose sounds span metalcore, progressive metal, post-hardcore, and rap-metal. Headlined by Dark Passenger, the show also features Sacramento-based Finding Parallels, rising local act On Water, and genre-blending group Then Die.

Dark Passenger anchors the night with a sound that fuses metalcore riffs and nu-metal tones, built around a balance of eerie melody and raw emotional aggression. The band’s music leans into atmosphere as much as force, pairing crushing guitar work with darker, melodic passages that give their songs a cinematic weight. That contrast between control and chaos defines their approach, shaping a live sound that moves fluidly between heaviness and mood-driven tension.

Sharing the bill is Finding Parallels, a five-piece progressive metal and post-hardcore band from Sacramento. Their music is rooted in technical precision while remaining emotionally direct, drawing influence from acts such as The Human Abstract, The Fall of Troy, Loathe, A Lot Like Birds, and The Callous Daoboys. Finding Parallels operates in the space between complexity and clarity, shifting between chaotic, high-intensity sections and moments of restraint. The band’s goal is connection through sound, using both aggression and beauty to carry emotional weight.

Also appearing is On Water, a newer project that formed in 2023 and released its debut EP,Desolate Plane, in October 2024. While early in its live journey, the band has signaled an active year ahead, with plans for new music, videos, and performances throughout 2026. This show marks another step in building its presence within the regional heavy music scene.

Rounding out the lineup is Then Die, a rap-metal act that blends groove-driven riffs with industrial textures and confrontational lyrical themes. Their sound pulls from multiple heavy genres, channeling ideas of survival, rebellion, and truth into tightly structured, rhythm-forward material. The band’s approach emphasizes impact and urgency, adding a distinct stylistic layer to the evening’s lineup.

The performance takes place at The Boardwalk, located at 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale. The venue has long served as a regional hub for live music, regularly hosting local, regional, and touring artists across rock, metal, and alternative genres in an intimate setting that places audiences close to the stage.
