Willamette Wineworks continues its ongoing live music series this Saturday. This week, it will feature the music of multi-instrumentalist David Albertson. The Sacramento-area musician will take the stage at the Historic Folsom tasting room venue from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.
At 27 years old, Albertson is a recognizable musician in the Sacramento area. He first began playing guitar at the age of 14 and studied locally with instrumental rock guru Scott Allen, according to his music bio. During his high school years, Albertson earned Roseville’s Most Talented Award for performing in the Oakmont Jazz Band and also began to study electric and upright bass.
He attended and earned scholarships to the Berklee College of Music program, Musician Institutes House Band Weekend, and National Guitar Workshop’s Rock Week. After high school, he began pursuing teaching experience by being a coach for Skip’s Music Stairway to Stardom program and interned for National Guitar Workshop.
In 2010, he graduated from the National Guitar Workshop teacher training program, and in 2012, he achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sacramento State University in Music Management, where he studied music education, jazz performance, and Suzuki method violin instruction.
As well as enjoying teaching, Albertson performs regularly. He is recognized by the International Association of Jazz Educators for his jazz guitar skills and has won first place in a Shred Off Competition at National Guitar Workshop’s LA campus. Albertson performs in Unboxed Records signed band, Humble Wolf, which has been featured in several music and news publications over the years. Humble Wolf has released two records and is headlining the First Festival (Music Festival) this May. Humble Wolf has also won an award as the Best Pop/Rock Band in Sacramento in 2015.
Albertson has performed in the US and internationally, including the Azores (Portugal), Mexico, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Connecticut. Other local venues include: Sleep Train Amphitheatre (Warped Tour), Concerts in the Park Sacramento, Harlow’s Nightclub, The Boardwalk, Strikes Rocklin, The Ace of Spades, Reno Jazz Festival, Sacramento State Ballroom, Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar, and many other venues.

Following Saturday’s event, additional artists in the weeks ahead include Todd Morgan on March 23. The Bill Walsh Trio will close out the month of March on the 30th. Mark Herin will kick off the April series at the local tasting room on April 6.
