Dignity Health’s Mercy Hospital of Folsom provided $4,542,837 in financial assistance to patients who could not afford essential medical care in fiscal year 2024 (FY24). This contribution is part of a broader effort by Dignity Health Sacramento Region Hospitals, which collectively donated a total of $47,638,288 in financial aid across five regional facilities.
The funds supported patients needing emergency and other necessary medical services, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Mercy Hospital of Folsom’s substantial contribution reflects its commitment to supporting the local community and ensuring that residents have access to healthcare when they need it most.
Dignity Health’s financial assistance policy is designed to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for qualifying patients who would face a financial burden without aid. Information on eligibility and application for financial assistance is available in multiple languages on the Dignity Health website.
Beyond providing financial assistance, Dignity Health Mercy Hospital of Folsom collaborates with community partners to improve overall health and wellness through prevention programs, health improvement initiatives, and funding support to local nonprofits addressing key social determinants of health.
As Dignity Health celebrates 35 years in Folsom, it’s also expanding its footprint in the city with a new location in Folsom’s Master Plan area south of Highway 50. The 30-acre site, located near East Bidwell Street and Alder Creek Parkway, will provide additional outpatient surgery options and healthcare services. Phase one of this development will feature a medical office building with an ambulatory surgical center, where primary care doctors and specialists will share space to offer comprehensive patient care.
This new facility is part of a broader expansion by Dignity Health, a unit of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, which also recently expanded the neonatal intensive care unit at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael. The Folsom addition builds on Dignity’s already substantial presence in the city, bringing more accessible healthcare services to the growing community.
