New state of the art surgical system will enhance minimally invasive care
Dignity Health Mercy Hospital of Folsom celebrated the arrival of its newest surgical technology today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony unveiling the da Vinci 5 (DV5) robotic surgical system. The state-of-the-art platform expands the hospital’s capabilities in minimally invasive surgery, offering patients greater precision, shorter recovery times, and improved outcomes.
Hospital leaders, physicians, community partners, and staff attended the event, which marks a major investment in expanding advanced surgical services for Folsom and the surrounding communities.
“This technology represents a significant step forward in how we deliver care,” said Lisa Hausmann, President and CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom. “Our community deserves access to the most advanced surgical options available, and the DV5 allows our teams to perform complex procedures with even greater accuracy, efficiency, and safety. We are proud to expand these capabilities close to home.”
The DV5 enhances visualization, control, and ergonomics for surgeons, enabling a wide range of procedures across specialties – including general surgery, gynecology, urology, and more.
“The DV5 allows our surgeons to operate with an extraordinary level of precision,” said Dr. John Gisla, Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Hospital of Folsom. “For our patients, this means less pain, faster healing, and a quicker return to daily life. It’s exciting to bring this next generation of robotic surgery to our community.”
The addition of the DV5 reflects Mercy Hospital of Folsom’s ongoing commitment to expanding advanced clinical capabilities and improving patient experience across the region.
