A correctional officer with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested on allegations of sexual assault involving an inmate in El Dorado County.
Michael Griffiths IV, 24, was taken into custody Friday, Nov. 22, and booked into the El Dorado County Jail. He faces charges of engaging in alleged consensual sexual activity with an adult in a detention facility, a violation of California Penal Code Section 289.6(a)(2). Griffiths’ bail was set at $50,000 at the time of his booking Friday.
The Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after learning of the allegations. Griffiths, who has been placed on administrative leave, was arrested after the inquiry concluded, according to Sgt. Kyle Parker and a media release issued by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Friday afternoon announcing the arrest.
No additional details have been released, as it remains an active investigation at this time.
