EL DORADO HILLS – As of this week, the responsibility for residential sprinkler and smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) alarm inspections in El Dorado Hills will shift from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department to the El Dorado County Building Department.
Under the new process, all residential sprinkler plans associated with building permits submitted on or after March 3 will be reviewed and approved by the county’s Building Department. However, projects submitted on or before March 2 will continue to be processed by the El Dorado Hills Fire Department.
Officials say the transition is designed to streamline the building permit process by consolidating inspections under a single entity. This change is expected to enhance efficiency by offering a “one-stop” application process and simplifying progress tracking for applicants and builders.
Despite the shift in responsibilities, the El Dorado Hills Fire Department will continue to conduct inspections related to fire-safe setbacks, water supply and draft hydrants, and final fire inspections for residential properties.
