A 911 call and a fast response by firefighters extinguished one burning home and saved another from damage in the Serrano community of El Dorado Hills late Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department were dispatched to a fire that was reported by a 911 call and had reportedly broken out in between two homes on the 1500 block Daunting Drive in the Serrano community.  

Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters were faced with one home with visible fire burning on the exterior wall and growing in size, threatening the neighboring home with a narrow space separating it from the burning home.  

With mutual aid response from the Cameron Park Fire Department, firefighters made an initial attack to extinguish the active fire. Thereafter, firefighters cut into the wall of the burning home to continue to extinguish any extension of the fire inside the wall.  

Firefighters remained on scene into the evening to insure the fire was completely extinguished. At this time the cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no injuries reported in the incident, however, family members were looking for there orange colored cat which escaped during the fire. 

Firefighters reported that the damage to the home is estimated to be approximately $100,000.
