FIRST LEGO League – Explore Festival

January 24 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Free

Community members are invited to witness dozens of local elementary and middle school students participate in the FIRST LEGO League – Explore Festival at Folsom Lake College in Folsom. Hosted by the nonprofit Playing at Learning, this event will feature students showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and technical skills through custom-built LEGO models and basic coding.

Unlike traditional competitions, the Explore Festival is a celebratory showcase where teams present their months of research and engineering to reviewers. The festival challenges participants to solve real-world problems using STEM, culminating in a public display of motorized LEGO designs and “Show Me” posters that detail their creative process.

“We are excited to bring this festival to the Folsom community to show how much these young students can achieve when given the right tools,” said Jill Wilker, CEO of Playing at Learning. “This event is the perfect opportunity for families, educators, and local leaders to see the impact of hands-on STEM learning. We hope to inspire more students to join a team and more adults to mentor the next generation of problem-solvers.”
