A quick response and action by firefighters prevented serious damage to two neighboring homes in Folsom Thursday evening.

Just before 5:25 pm Thursday evening, multiple units from both Folsom and El Dorado Hills were dispatched to the 200 block of Ruth Court for a reported structure fire that was threatening a neighboring home.

Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters discovered the source of the active fire was a wood fence between the two homes and quickly made their attack on the flames.

One of the two homes sustained minor damage to its exterior prior to the fire being extinguished while the other was sparred from any reported damage.

According to Folsom Fire, no injuries were reported in the incident and the cause of the fire is under ignition.  Four engines, two trucks and one medic unit were originally dispatched to the incident.

It’s advised to make sure vegetation is cleared from the exterior of your home and adjacent fences or out buildings. It is also important to make sure any flammable materials or combustibles such as portable fuel cans or construction materials  are stored safely.
