The incident was first reported around 9:25 a.m. as a possible electrical emergency before being upgraded to a vegetation fire near 405 Leidesdorff Street. The flames ignited in a steep, brush-covered area below the bridge and along the Johnny Cash Trail, making access difficult for fire crews.

Multiple units from the Folsom Fire Department responded, including Engine 32, Engine 36, Engine 332, Engine 337, and OES 8431 from the Office of Emergency Services. Firefighters encountered muddy, unstable ground as they worked the fire line. California State Parks personnel also assisted, along with crews from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), who remained on scene into the late morning to assess and manage electrical components in the area.

Folsom police officers closed Rainbow Bridge to traffic during the initial response and maintained a presence at the Johnny Cash Trailhead off Leidesdorff Street, warning walkers and cyclists about the emergency activity and the presence of fire equipment along the trail. The trail was temporarily closed to ensure safe access for emergency personnel and utility crews.

The fire was brought under control just before 10 a.m. No injuries or damage to nearby structures were reported, and fire personnel remained on site throughout the morning to monitor for flare-ups and support utility workers from SMUD that remained working on the scene. Further information on what sparked the electrical issue and ignition were available at the time.
