Folsom Fire Department, with assistance from El Dorado Hills Fire Department have responded to a working structure fire on the 1200 block of  Walden Drive in Folsom on Saturday evening.

The call was received at approximately 7:10 p.m., A total of ten units were involved in the response, including four engines, two truck companies, a medic unit and battalion units. Folsom Police, Pacific Gas and Electric and SMUD also responded to assist with the scene.

According to information gathered by Folsom Times at the scene, the renters were alerted to the fire by someone ringing their doorbell. They evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

“Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and attic space in a single-story home,” shared Bill Woodward, Battalion Chief for the Folsom Fire Deparrtment. “Vertical ventilation and multiple hose lines helped fire personnel contain the fire within 15 minutes of dispatch.”

The fire caused significant damage to the living area of the home as the garage, which was heavily involved in flames upon arrival. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.   The damage to the home has displaced the residents, who will be receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
