Multiple units have responded to the scene of a structure fire in Folsom early Sunday morning. 

Following 911 call center reports, units were originally dispatched to the 1200 block of Fergusen Way at 6:16 am. Units from both Folsom and El Dorado Hills were in response to the incident.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported they were at a two story home with an active fire, with smoke coming from the garage. Four occupants of the home were evacuated and firefighters have initiated an attack on the fire and are performing a secondary search for animals reportedly inside.

6:25 a.m. Firefighters report multiple animals in the garage area of the home, including birds. Evacuation of the animals to safety is underway.

6:33 a.m: Crews have knocked down the active fire per radio traffic and are checking for possible fire extension into the second story.

6:34 a.m: Upon inspection, no additional fire extension is visible into the second story above the garage. Active fire activity reportedly extighished.

6:40 a.m: Incident command has cancelled response of One additional truck and a battalion chief unit from El Dorado Hills, multiple trucks from both agencies remain on scene for mop up.

At this time the cause of the fire has not been determined or reported.
