EL DORADO HILLS – Firefighters from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department and surrounding agencies, including Folsom, responded swiftly Wednesday afternoon to a residential fire that ignited beneath the living space of the large home.
The fire was reported at 3:24 p.m. on Latrobe Road near Dragon Point Road, on the southern side of El Dorado Hills, according to Fire Chief Mike Lilienthal. Firefighters arrived to find smoke rising from a two-story residence and quickly determined that the flames were contained to the crawl space beneath the structure.
Crews used chainsaws to cut through the home’s exterior and gain access to the fire. Once entry was made, they were able to extinguish the flames quickly, preventing further damage to the residence.
Lilienthal told Folsom Times that the fire was determined to be electrical in nature. The incident caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the home.
Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of firefighters, the home was spared from significant structural damage, and no injuries were reported as the residents were able to self evacuate prior to the arrival of firefighters.
