Fairies, mischief, and midsummer magic will take center stage in Folsom as the Folsom Lake College Dance Department unveils its bold new adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream next week. On Thursday, May 1, the Harris Center for the Arts will transform into an enchanted forest where live music, dance, and theatrical storytelling merge in a captivating reimagining of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy.
This world premiere production invites audiences into a whimsical realm where the playful Puck stirs chaos, and Titania and Oberon—the fairy queen and king—tangle over love and power. With the vibrant choreography of the MOSAIC Dance Company, the FLC Youth Chamber Orchestra, and the cinematic flair of local band The Silver Screens, the evening promises both visual and musical enchantment.

A second magical night under the stars set for Historic Folsom
The magic continues the following evening, Friday, May 2, with A Midsummer Night’s Dream In Concert at the Zittel Family Amphitheater in Historic Folsom. This special outdoor concert version offers a lively and approachable format for audiences of all ages. The free community event begins at 6:00 p.m. and features a wide array of entertaining songs, ranging from David Bowie to Merle Haggard, Kelly Clarkson, Mumford & Sons, and more. Beloved human and fairy characters from the Shakespearean tale will share their story once again, blending dance, theater, and contemporary music for a dynamic performance under the stars.
Guests are encouraged to bring low-backed chairs or blankets and settle in for a memorable evening of merriment and magic. The performance includes a short intermission and runs under two hours, making it a perfect night out for families and theater lovers alike.
